For those using the A4 motorway (Turin-Trieste), the suggested exit is Padua west (Padova Ovest). Continue along the bypass west (Corso Australia) until the turn-off for Abano, then along the provincial road that goes from Padua to Abano for another 4 km. For those using the A13 motorway (Bologna-Padua), the suggested exit is Terme Euganee. Continue along the SS Adriatica in the direction of Padua and turn left at Mezzavia, towards Abano.
The nearest railway station is Terme Euganee-Montegrotto (not Abano!), on the Bologna-Padua line. The Padua railway station, on the Milan-Venice line, is also convenient and is served by more trains. From the square in front of the station, several buses leave towards Abano every 15 minutes. The journey takes approximately 30 minutes and the bus lines are A, M, T or AT. Taxis are available immediately outside both railway stations.
The nearest airport is Venice (Marco Polo; approximately 60 km away), served by a large number of national and international airlines. From this airport to Abano by taxi or on a direct bus line, the trip takes approximately 90 min. Other international airports include Treviso (70 km) and Verona (80 km). Both provide good alternatives to reach Abano. A shuttle service can be booked directly from the Congress Centre: +39 049 866 6111.

Your registration does not include the social events listed below. If you wish to take part in any of these events, please access your personal myEMC2010 page to register.
The social dinner will take place on Monday, 13 September, at 20:00 (the location depends on the exact number of registered participants). If you wish to attend the dinner, please access your myEMC2010 page within 3 September to register. The price of the social dinner is 50 EUR and must be paid in cash at the registration desk upon arrival.
The local organisers have arranged limited guided visits to the famous Scrovegni Chapel (containing a fresco cycle by Giotto) and the Specola (the astronomical observatory of Padua). These guided tours will take place after the scientific sessions of 14 September; the departure from Abano will be at 19:00 by bus and the trip to both sites takes about 20-30 minutes. There is a limited number of available slots and interested participants can register for one or the other—you cannot register for both. Both tours last approximately 40 minutes, after which participants can enjoy a free evening in Padua. A return bus to the congress centre is scheduled for 23:00 (exact time subject to confirmation). Since there is a limited number of slots available, registrations are on a "first come, first served" basis. The price for any of the tours is 10 EUR to be paid in cash at the registration desk upon arrival. To make your reservation, please access your myEMC2010 page within 3 September. |
